London Film and Comic Con 2017 – Preparation is Key!

Here I am again, finding myself getting ready for another awesome weekend of nerdy greatness! It’s that time of year where London Film and Comic Con 2017 is coming to Olympia for it’s summer show.

This is probably my fourth time attending this convention but it’s the first time that I am properly going all out to meet guests and get photo ops with them, will be top Heroes and Villains Fan Fest? That would be a tough question to answer as I had the time of my life at Heroes and Villains so I’m hoping I enjoy myself at LFCC this year. The event, run by Showmasters, is a convention that is dedicated to film, TV shows and comics as the name of the event entitles. Besides Heroes and Villains, this is the convention I prefer over the likes of MCM as I am more into my film, TV shows and comic books so it’s the perfect event for me as a fan.

This year I think Showmasters have outdone themselves as the guest line up this year is truly fantastic and has got some huge guests that I never thought I would see at a convention! Some of the big appearances include Benedict Cumberbatch, Mads Mikkelson, Alyson Hannigan, Kevin Smith, Natalie Dormer and Steven Yeun to name but a few and I’m going to be meeting these as well as many others across the course of the weekend. I have been very much looking forward to this convention just due to the fact it’s 3 days of fun and it’s me in my comfort zone, it feels like a second home surrounded by people who all share the love and passion for the same thing. The weekend will have various things happening from autograph signings, photo ops with the guests, talks with the guests for the films/TV shows they have appeared in as well as the stools that sell some amazing memorabilia and merchandise. There is something for everyone at this event so if you like all things DC and Marvel, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead especially, then you will want to attend this year.

With an event like this it is always important to plan the weekend in advance, as it will help you have a much more enjoyable time. I should know as I am talking from experience as I have been a convention attendee since I was 18 so I like to feel I’m a bit of a veteran when it comes to these shows by now. Here’s some tips to keep in mind when attending a show like London Film and Comic Con 2017:

Rule #1 If you plan on buying photo op tickets then always check the schedule the show release, just to know exactly what photo area to be at for you chosen guest and at the correct time. It is essential to always check this to avoid missing out on your photo op, as no one wants to miss out on a professional photo with a guest you look up to.

Rule #2 When approaching autograph signings for guest always make sure you are aware of queue times. If you are trying to squeeze an autograph in between a photo op or guest talk, just make you you won’t be late to tickets you’ve already paid for. The bigger guests will definitely have longer queuing times so keep that in mind.

Rule #3 Just remember to have fun! Comic Con is an event where you get to meet a lot of different people from guests to fans in general and it definitely is an experience you will want to cherish and enjoy.

I am so stoked for LFCC this year and I think that I’m going to be making some pretty awesome memories over the weekend. I have my weekend all planned out and I am looking forward to indulging in the nerdy goodness. I think the things I’m looking forward to the most is meeting Doctor Strange himself as I thought that Benedict Cumberbatch was just amazing as the Sorcerer Supreme, so will be a big moment to meet him in person. I’m also meeting the cast of Marvel’s Iron Fist so that is something I very much am looking forward to! As well as the photo ops I have booked, I just am looking forward to being in the convention buzz once more as it really is a fun weekend and you just switch off and get caught up in the atmosphere. I will be doing a full convention coverage of the weekend when I get back, including my stand out moments and some of the talks I attended and people I met.

If anyone is attending London Film and Comic Con 2017, make sure you have things planned, don’t forget your sharpies and just have an amazing time there!

Peace out!
