Marvel’s The Defenders – Official Final Trailer

Holy shit, the time is almost upon us!

Since San Diego Comic Con 2017, we have been getting a lot of activity surrounding Netflix’s upcoming Marvel project “The Defenders”, which is something I have been so stoked for and can’t wait to see this show! The idea of seeing Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist all on screen together, as a fan, is going to be something pretty epic and awesome. Ever since I knew that Netflix would be making a series of Marvel shows, straight away I was thinking that The Defenders must be on the table and I’m so glad this is what they’ve been working towards!

We have been given a few epic trailers so far giving us a little teaser into what we can expect from this crossover show and I’m already excited for it but this week we were given the final official trailer for The Defenders. I literally just watched it and shit man, I am counting down these last few days until the show is streamed on Netflix in it’s entirety! In this trailer we get to see more interaction between the four heroes as well as some kick ass action sequences, which will be the bread and butter of the show. The set pieces just look amazing and I think we’ll be getting the iconic hallway fight scene, which was started back in Daredevil Season 1 except this time it’s all four characters and a shit ton of bad guys to boot. We also get more of a look at Sigourney Weaver’s character and I got the feeling that this woman means business!

It was cool to see Stick return as well as I thought his character was brilliant so I can’t wait to see what role he has to play in the story. There’s also little glimpses of Elodie Yung’s Elektra, who we saw was killed at the end of Daredevil Season 2! The fact she is alive and walking could mean a lot of trouble for The Defenders, especially for Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock. In the trailer it appears that after the events of Daredevil’s second season, Matt Murdock has hung up the suit and retired from being the devil of hell’s kitchen, but it seems that something will force him out of his early retirement. I’m not surprised his character is damaged and broken after the loss of Elektra and confessing to Karen Page that he is the man behind the mask. I think he will have an interesting character arc in the show.

I’m also stoked to see a more light hearted and funny side to Finn Jones Danny Rand as well. I really enjoy Iron Fist and thought it was a brilliant show, but Danny was more serious which isn’t a bad thing so I’m looking forward to see the funny, quick one liner side of the character that I loved from the comics growing up. It looks like Danny Rand has matured a lot since the events of Iron Fist and from the trailer, it seems that he is realising what it means to be a hero and is growing more into the immortal Iron Fist so I can’t wait to see his character grow across the series.

Mike Colter’s Luke Cage seems to be different in the trailer after the events of his first season, becoming the protector of Harlem. He wants to do more to help people than just being known as the bulletproof hero of Harlem. I liked how we got to see Luke meet Danny Rand and I think those two are going to have some great scenes together, could even be the start of the whole Heroes for Hire concept that we know from the comic books. I think that Cage and Iron Fist will form a great bond in the show and think that in a fight those two are going to do some serious damage.

Then we finally have the stunning Krysten Ritter as the badass Jessica Jones, who doesn’t seem to have lost her personality at all. She still has the quick one liners in this trailer, even so far as saying Matt Murdock looks like an idiot with her scarf one, classic from her. I liked how she was always able to hold her own in a fight and based on this trailer, she hasn’t lost her will to fight at all.

I have been eagerly anticipating The Defenders and even thought it’s only an 8 episode series, I think it’s going to be an epic event and possibly one of the greatest comic book properties we will be seeing this year.
